Getting Started.

What do I need to get started?

Rubicoin is available on iOS for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. Users can sign up with an email and password.

Who can use Rubicoin?

Rubicoin apps are available to anyone on iOS for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. We hope to make our apps available to Android users later in 2016.

Will users be able to access their financial accounts on their computers as well as phones?

Rubicoin is a mobile-first company. At the moment users can only access their Rubicoin account on iOS compatible devices


What information do I need to open a Rubicoin account?

All you need to do is register with us using an email and password.

What information do I need to open a brokerage account?

Depending on which brokerage option you choose you will be required to give different information but all brokers require a social security number, a US address and employment details.

Does Rubicoin have access to my social security number?

No. This is only required by your broker for account set-up and is not required by Rubicoin.

Does Rubicoin have access to my brokerage account?

We do not have direct access to your account or your account details. We issue instructions to your broker-dealer for the buying and selling of stocks through our apps.

Does Rubicoin have access to my bank account?

No. We don’t have any access to your bank account.

Does Rubicoin have access to my personal information?

We don’t have access to any personal information you share with your broker-dealer. The only information we have access to is the information you provide to us through registration on our apps.

How is user information protected?

We never store or save any of your broker information, and your session is completely closed as soon as your order is sent to your broker.

Is any of my information stored on Rubicoin’s servers?

We only store information linked to your rubicon profile and not your stock brokerage account.

Buying and Selling Stocks.

Can I buy and sell stocks using Rubicoin?

Yes, you can buy and sell stocks using the Invest app. You can create a new account with Robinhood through Invest or you can link to your current broker in app using a platform called TradeIT.

Who are your brokerage partners?

Robinhood, TD Ameritrade, Fidelity, Scottrade, Schwab, E-Trade, OptionsHouse, TradeStation, Tradier.

What is the transaction fee going to be?

There are no fees if you open an account with Robinhood. Transaction fees apply for other brokers and will vary depending on who you use.

How much or how little can I invest using Rubicoin?

You can invest as much as you like up to limits set by your broker-dealer. And you can invest as little as the price of one share.

Can I sell my stocks at any time?

Yes. Stocks can be sold at any time as long as the stock exchange is open.

How many stocks can I invest in using Rubicoin?

You can buy an unlimited number of stocks.

How do I withdraw money from my account?

Different broker-dealers have different fund withdrawal processes so it’s best to consult with your broker.

When will I be charged transaction fees?

Your broker-dealer applies the transaction fee at the time of purchase/sale

Taxes and Fees.

Do I have to pay taxes on money I make through my Rubicoin account?

All transactions through Rubicoin are subject to the same taxes that apply to buying stocks through any broker-dealer.

Are there withdrawal fees?

Withdrawal fees are subject to the policies your broker-dealer has in place. Please consult the fees of your broker-dealer for further information.

Will I be charged a fee for an inactive account?

Inactive account fees are subject to the policies your broker-dealer has in place. Please consult the fees of your broker-dealer for further information.


What versions of iOS do your apps support?

We support iOS versions 8.0 +

Opening an Account

If I don't live in the United States, can I still open an investing account?

Yes, you can open a Live Investing Account with DriveWealth.

What do I need to do in order to open a broker account with DriveWealth?

In order to open a Live Investing Account, you must answer a series of questions that are required by FINRA. The process is quick and very user-friendly. Make sure you have all the correct documents (see below) before you begin the process. It should take you less than five minutes

What documents do I need to open my account?

  1. A photo ID
  2. List of valid Photo ID’s (only one required):
    • Government issued Photo ID (non–expired)
    • Valid Driver’s License (non-expired)
    • Passport (non-expired)
    • Voters Registration Card with photo

  3. Current Proof of address
  4. List of valid Proof of addresses (only one required):
    • Utility Bill (Examples: Gas, Electricity, Water, Property Tax or Mortgage Receipt)
    • Mobile Phone Bill, Bank or Credit Card Statement.
    • A letter from your landlord, employer, doctor, dentist, accountant, lawyer, serving police officer or Notary Public stating and confirming your residential address.

  5. Social Security Number or Passport Number
  6. Non US citizens can provide their Passport Number instead of a Social Security Number.
Note: All Bills and Statements must be within the last 3 months. PO Box numbers will not be accepted. Government issued Photo ID with Address can be used for Proof of Address as long your Permanent Address is the same, if not you must submit a Proof of Address.

How do I upload my documents?

If you opt out of the registration process before uploading your documents follow the steps below to complete the task.
Open the Invest app & follow the quick steps below:

  3. Tap ‘Upload documents’
I submitted the wrong documents or my details have changed. How do I upload the correct documents?

  2. Tap 'Broker’
 (link your account)
  3. Tap ‘My Account’
  4. Tap ‘Upload documents’

How long does it take before I can access my account?

Once you have completed the process, you will receive a confirmation email within 24-48 hours if your account has been approved, or an email explaining why you could not be approved for an account at this time. For any further information on your account, email support@drivewealth.com.

What is the minimum amount required to open a Live Investing Account?

There are no minimums to open a DriveWealth Live Investing Account.

Funding My Account

How do I fund my account?

There are a number of safe and secure ways to deposit funds into your DriveWealth broker account. To fund your account, sign-in to the Invest app, tap the “More” section and tap "Fund your account”.

How do I confirm that a deposit is in my Live Investing Account?

DriveWealth will send you an email confirming that your deposit was received for your broker account. Please note that the various deposit methods have different deposit times.

How do I withdraw my funds?

To withdraw funds from your DriveWealth account, please login to your DriveWealth account via the Invest app, tap on the “More” section and go to “Fund your account”, and toggle to “Withdraw Funds”. After you submit the withdrawal request, you will receive a notification within 24 hours in regards to the status of your withdrawal.

You may withdraw funds in your account (all cash balances or excess margin) at any time after the funds have cleared.

Fees and Commissions

Are there any fees involved?

It is free to download and register for the Invest App. There are no monthly minimum fees, or required ongoing minimum account balance. If you are not a US citizen there is a one-off fee of $1.50 for processing your W-8BEN form, during account registration, which is a legal requirement by the IRS.

What is a W-8BEN form?

A W-8BEN is a tax form, which is used to certify that you are not a United States citizen or resident alien. (Non-United States citizens/residents are exempt from United States tax on capital gains and interest, but are subject to United States withholding tax on dividends based on their country of origin). There is a one-time $1.50 processing fee for this certification, which will be debited from your initial deposit.

Are there commission charges?

Very competitive commission charges do apply.

Other FAQ's

Can I earn interest on my deposits?

Yes, through an agreement with Federated Investors, Inc., DriveWealth is making available a money market fund into which your account’s free credit balances will be swept. Free credit balances include un-invested deposits, dividends and interest, and funds from transactions, such as sales of stocks. The money market is the Federated Prime Cash Obligations Fund. Your free credit balances are automatically swept into the Federated Prime Cash Obligations Fund. The timing and amounts to be swept will be set according to the terms of the cash sweep feature. Credit balances that are needed to satisfy a settling transaction are not free and are not available for the cash sweep feature. All sweep transactions will appear on your periodic Account statements. These Account statements indicating sweep transactions are provided in lieu of separate confirmations.

What are the trading hours and US market holidays?

Trading hours are the normal NYSE market hours - 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM Eastern Time Mondays through Friday (14:30 -21:00 UTC/GMT). See here for the NYSE holidays where the market is closed.

Who is DriveWealth?
